Zauytbek Karabekov, son of Karabek
About this person
Zauytbek Karabekov, son of Karabek
Zauytbek Karabekuly Karabekov was born in 1941 in the village of Dihankol, in what is now the Tolebi district. His father, Karabek Kozhageldiev, was drafted into the army in 1942 and heroically died on December 17 of the same year in the village of Arestovo, Sychev district, Smolensk region.
In 1949, he entered the first grade of the seven-year school in Dihankol and graduated from it with excellent marks in 1956. That same year, he continued his studies at Kazakh Secondary School No. 2 in the city of Lenger and completed it successfully in 1959. After working in industry for one year, he entered the Faculty of Mechanics at the Kazakh Chemical-Technological Institute in Shymkent in 1960. In 1965, he earned the degree of mechanical engineer and remained at the institute as a lecturer in the Department of “Strength of Materials.”
Among students of technical universities, there is a famous saying: “If you pass Descriptive Geometry, you become a student; if you pass Strength of Materials, you can get married — meaning, you will actually graduate.” This reflects the difficulty of these subjects. Combining teaching with scientific research, he defended a dissertation on the fatigue resistance of steel produced in Karaganda and earned the academic degree of Candidate of Sciences.
He worked in this field continuously for 49 years and is now retired with honor. He takes great pride in the many students he taught — engineers, Candidates of Sciences, Doctors of Sciences — including public figure Amalbek Tshanov, General Zhenisbay Sultanov, and many others.
He raised 2 sons and 3 daughters, settled them in life, and now enjoys the happiness of his family.
